Climate Change and Indian Monsoon #CauseAChatter #ClimateChange

Climate Change, Flooding, Droughts, Indian Ocean Dipole, Monsoon depression are some of the clearly visible signs of Global Warming. Global warming in fact has become a serious global warning. The impact is getting significantly severe year by year. It's happening in every part of the world. A recent research shows that global warming is increasing the variations in the monsoon due to climate change. This, in turn, is resulting, on one hand in longer dry periods, and on the other hand, shorter spells of heavy rains. In fact, rains are happening at those places where no rains have happened in decades. Snowfall is taking place, astonishingly, in places where nobody could have ever imagined.

In the year 2022, we have witnessed the second maximum extreme incidents since 1902. Extremities of floods and droughts have taken place in different parts. Such alarming incidents are increasing substantially and are causing damages beyond control. If we look at climate change incidents in context of Indian Monsoon, there are plenty this year. There have been contrasting rainfall patterns thus resulting in high risk and uncontrolled damages. Monsoon system tracks are changing drastically. Such shifts have caused low pressure and depression moving southwards of their original position this resulting in flash floods and landslides.

What we mean by monsoon depression is something that results in a low-pressure condition that substantially impacts the North Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal thus disturbing the summer patterns completely. These disturbances impact larger vicinity, as big as covering the areas within 1000 km of its diameter. We have witnessed excessive rainfall in 2022 in many states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. On the other hand, at the same time, states like Jharkhand, Bihar, and West Bengal did not have normal rains. In August 2022 Central Indian states faced multiple severe conditions resulting from depressions in the Bay of Bengal. In 2022 there have been huge variations in monsoon rainfall in many regions.

All these factors have resulted not only in heavy damages of human life but also of crops, kettle, and reserves.

72nd Constitution Day was celebrated today by Ministry of Women and Child Development & UN Women India honouring women in all walks of life. On this occasion, the event 'Sangram Se Samvidhan Tak' (संग्राम से संविधान तक) that featured Union Minister Smriti Zubin Irani, Ministry of Women and Child Development was held that included a number of prominent dignitaries celebrating  women as the main thrust in India's freedom and democracy. The event took place at the UN House in New Delhi. It was a part of the Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (आज़ादी का अमृत महोत्सव) celebration. India's constitutional history was well commemorated by remembering valuable contributions of great women visionaries who had a strong commitment to uphold the fundamentals of equal and just republic that reflects in our country's foundational charter. The Constitution of India was adopted on 26th November 1949.

72nd Constitution Day & UN Women India #pebbleinwaterswrites

Thus, that day is also marked as a historical step in building our nation. Our constitution is one of the best in the world that comprises of most forward-looking and revolutionary charter. It's remarkable in the sense that it is designed with fundamental ideologies and well defined codes that primarily focus on equality for all diversities that flourish in India. The charter for the independent Republic of India believes in equality and justice for all and includes the reflections of the contributions of the women engineers of our Constitution. Women's right to vote is a crisp example of this. Role of women freedom fighters, lawyers, suffragettes, educationists, reformists, and politicians imbibed great inspiration in drafting it that focussed on setting a strong, equal, and common national identity for every citizen of India. That's how it was laid with a strong foundation.

Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Indevar Pandey said,

The history of the Indian struggle would be incomplete without mentioning the contributions of women. The sacrifices made by the women of India will always occupy the foremost place.

Our freedom movement brought women to the centre of political life, at a time in history when that was very rare. I am so proud of this. Their contributions made India a more just and equal society,”

Susan Jane Feruguson, UN Women India Country Representative said,

“Let’s honour the sheer indomitable will of the women in their country, and everywhere ーpast, present and future, who’ve demonstrated the courage and commitment to bring about a just and equal society.”

Uncommon Foods and My Adventures with Them from Time to Time

I am a man of variations and hence can't stick to limitations. That brings an inherent curiosity in me to explore uncommon foods of India and try hands on them from time to time in my own style. I do like to give a twist sometimes, here and there, in preparation style, or in the ingredients, so as to customize the food that I prepare in my own way. Even the same recipe I keep trying in various styles so as to get the best out of it and find out the variation in taste it brings. Having other's opinion is important in this matter, that I keep doing. But I invite others to taste my recipes only after I get convinced that it is worth it, for that matter. Exploring uncommon foods, is thus, quite important.

Many people think that the food in India is all about regular stuff like rice, vegetables, sweets, Chapatis & various other forms of Rotis, and meats. But that is not all. There is a lot more in Indian culture that brings in amazing uncommon foods and we should not lose track of those. These recipes are inherited from generations gone and hence their importance in our life. Their preservation is important for generations to come. These uncommon foods are precious gems of taste, culture, and nation. Different cultures have set different standards for foods. Some communities are pure veggie while others go to an extreme extent of meats. These culinary variations thus make it more interesting. Some foods are seasonal or occasional while others are universal and prepared all through the year.

When I was in Goa, a few months back, I tried a local recipe Ambot Tik or Baby Shark Curry. This is a rare Goan dish that is very popular in Goa. This rare commodity is available in Goa all through the year. On the other hand, if we talk of Bhang Pakoras or Bhang Thandai that is made with leave of cannabis, and is popular during spring season around Shivratri and Holi festival. People in Manipur, North Bengal, and Kerala are still fond of Black Rice. Also termed as Magic Rice it has many health benefits and changes color while preparation. If you have not tasted Benami Kheer so far, you must. It is made with garlic. Phan Pyut is quite common in Eastern parts of India. The potatoes are rot in soil and then spices are mixed before relishing this dish. Chattisgarh is famous for Red Ant Chutney. Nahkham is a tribal food that is prepared dried fish, distilled ashes, and various vegetables. In Assam, Khorisa is prepared with fermented and grated bamboo shoot. Haldi ka Halwa is quite popular during Makar Sakranti month of the Indian calendar. So varied culture and so many uncommon foods are there in India. Eri Polu is an exotic dish of Assam made with silkworm pupae. Tilli is an aromatic and tasteful street snack quite popular in Pune. It is made with buffalo's spleen marinated in mild spices and then is roasted or grilled.

Uncommon Foods in India are culturally driven

Enthused with so many amazing uncommon foods, I tried preparing a handful of Bhang Pakoras at home. The recipe is simple and same as for preparing Pakoras. The only ingredient that you have to add is Bhang powder in the Besan paste that you prepare for any kind of Pakoras. This is how it came and I enjoyed them quite well at home this Holi.

Uncommon Foods and My Adventures with Them from Time to Time

During this exploration and expedition about Uncommon Foods of India, I found some beautiful, inspiring and insightful videos on the same. These videos representing culinary stars Vikas Khanna and Vir Sanghvi talking about their adventures with uncommon foods. Also came across Foodventures microsite where you stand a chance to feature in a video with the celebs on sharing your #Foodventures.

Technology in Design, Fashion Shows, and more at Pearl Portfolio 2016

Technology in Design has evolved in a big way

Technology in Design plays a major role in fashion industry

Technology in Design entrusts clarity of purpose and communication

Technology has come a long way ever since its evolution. Technology in design plays a major role in fashion, design and creative industry. Technology in design entrusts clarity of purpose and communication in that regard. The three days of Pearl Portfolio 2016 were filled with fun, serious discussions, world class fashion shows, and an amazing announcement regarding tie up with FDCI. The roundup of day one has already been covered in my previous post. Let us talk now about the important, engrossing, and entertaining events that happened on day two and three of Pearl Portfolio 2016 at NSIC exhibition grounds, Okhla during May 6-8. The conclusion came with a great announcement regarding first ever association of FDCI with Pearl Academy. What this means is something unique for faculty and students of one of the top fashion institutes of India. Technology in design has a big say in every course being offered here.

Technology in Design, Fashion Shows, and more at Pearl Portfolio 2016

Day two began with Design Immersion Workshops where kids from various schools had insights on various aspects of what they will gain if they join such courses to build their career in this stream. It was followed by SoD Industry Meet and the topic of the day was “Technology in Design”. Two hours of this panel discussion were quit engaging, mindful and thought-provoking. Speakers came out with various ideas on the value of technology in design. It was emphasized that before embedding any kind of technology in a design, the purpose of design must be very clear. Once a product (or service) is designed, a right message should go to end consumer (or user) about the purpose, usage, and benefits of that design. The day ended with a couple of fashion shows. The creativity, professionalism, perfection, and delivery was at its peak. Each perfectly designed dress presented by various models was well cheered by the parents, students, and guests present at the event.

Technology in Design, Fashion Shows, and more at Pearl Portfolio 2016

Day three started with Award Distribution Ceremony. The SoD Industry Meet panel discussion talked further on various aspects of design like emotions, art, science, technology, social, etc. It was followed by two fashion shows. The grand finale fashion show at the end of the day was phenomenal and was amazing in terms of creativity and design. Another landmark is achieved in the history of Pearl Academy when the management of the institute announced a first ever in India association with FDCI (Fashion Design council of India) that will transform not only the professional life of students but also of the faculty. Technology in design will bring a new meaning now.

FDCI and Pearl Academy thus go for a landmark collaboration to offer best fashion programme in India

FDCI and Pearl Academy Collaborate to Produce Best in Fashion, Design

The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and Pearl Academy associate for a landmark collaboration to produce best in fashion and design arena. This is another milestone achieved by Pearl Academy thus keeping the second top institute abreast in its unique journey of providing the best in the industry. This will not only enable students to get India's best fashion programme but also provide them a great exposure on the international front. The announcement came amidst the finale of Pearl Academy's annual graduating event – Pearl Portfolio 2016, held in Delhi at NSIC exhibition grounds, Okhla, May 6-8.

Ace designers David Abraham, Manish Malhotra, Rohit, Gandhi, Rahul Mishra and more were present at the occasion. FDCI is an apex body of fashion design in India with around 500 members including legends Rohit Bal, J J Valaya, Sabyasachi, Anju Modi, Namrata Joshipura, Manish Arora, and Rajesh Pratap Singh. Pearl Academy is among the leading design institutes creating fashion and designing professionals for more than two decades, having centers in Delhi, Mumbai and Jaipur. The two have come together with this unique concept first ever implemented in the country to nurture and develop the designers of tomorrow.

In an industry first, it will be a great chance for Pearl Academy's graduating fashion students to showcase their final collections at the Amazon India Fashion Week. With this collaboration, the Pearl Academy's faculty would be attending the masterclasses conducted by FDCI so as to get an enhanced exposure to the latest trends and techniques in the industry. This, in turn, will benefit the students to get a better exposure of the outside world expertise. FDCI will also be hosting regular events at Pearl Academy campuses through which the designer members, fashion editors, and trend forecasters will be teaching and mentoring Pearl students. This unique initiative taken by the fashion industry will definitely provide better prospects to shape future designers.

This momentous juncture has arrived as for the first time the Fashion Design Council body as a whole is bonding with a fashion & design institute with such a deep engagement and commitment.

“I find them to be forward-looking, innovative and leaders in design education. Their student work has been outstanding and I am confident that it will be further enhanced with this association. It is an opportunity for FDCI to shape the industry for tomorrow and this alliance is a first step in that direction,” said FDCI president Sunil Sethi, who has always shown deep interest in fashion education.
Pearl Academy CEO Sharad Mehra added, “We have been associated with FDCI for multiple events but this association is a historic one and will change the face of fashion education. We welcome all the leading designers from FDCI to be a part of Pearl Academy and help mentor Pearlites to be future ready.”

Suresh Prabhu, Union Minister for Railways is not only being praised for an excellent Railways Budget 2016 but also for unleashing the power of technology to reach out to his audience in real-time, and that too in an interactive manner. That is the beauty of the human mind. Technology has no limits and boundaries. It is the human brain that sets the limitations based on his thoughts and capabilities. Before releasing railways budget 2016, Suresh Prabhu was seen on Periscope in the morning. He was having a breakfast chat with a large number of audience in real-time. The session was to set expectations from this year’s budget. These are few steps taking India from the status of a developing country to a developed country.

Such things were never seen in all previous governments. Suresh Prabhu not only ensured to present a well-balanced, poor friendly and old-age friendly budget; but also made it a point to engage a lot of people using social media in a real-time environment. It was all interactive for the first time in the history of our country. It was presented in public symbolically than in the parliament. New Delhi Railway Station witnessed more than 100 Twitter screens broadcasting the speech and getting users the Rail Budget 2016 in real-time. It was for the first time a real-time engagement with people on a global front. People were connected at home, in office, on the move, in the country, outside country.

It was not only broadcasting of Railways Budget 2016 and speech of the Union Minister of Railways, Suresh Prabhu but also demonstration of the urge of One India by engaging all the people to such a large extent using Twitter. The minister also sent real-time infographics highlighting the key features of the budget. Jat Stir, Jat Reservation, Haryana Quota Protest

Jat Stir, Jat Reservation, Haryana Quota Protest has worsened the situation

Why Narendra Modi is silent over Jat stir, Jat reservation, Haryana quota protest

Why should the goons be declared as terrorists and anti-social elements? Why Haryana Government should not be terminated?

Photo credit: Thomas Hawk via VisualHunt.com / CC BY-NC

Within three days of Jat stir, Jat reservation and Haryana quota protest; Jats have proved that they are much powerful than state and central governments. They are looting, killing and stopping water supply. Why can’t they be declared as terrorists or anti-social elements of severest type? Within three days state and central governments have proved their worth to the country, concern about the life of so many people getting killed, concern about the water crisis in Delhi due to Haryana, concern about so much public and government property getting damaged.

Why can’t a permanent security and vigilance mechanism be deployed on all such critical sites with shoot at sight orders? Who is interested in getting the situation to such an extent? What rights a community has to stop drinking water? Are these people any less than terrorists or anti-social goons? There is no water in 7 main supply tanks in Delhi. Haryana is taking Delhi at ransom by stopping water supply to Delhi from Haryana. Are state and central governments so powerless not able to handle such miscreants. It will take 24 hours for water to reach Delhi even after the supply starts. If all this is acceptable to administrative agencies, the days are not far when it will be open killings on the roads. The control mechanism is getting worse in the country. Narendra Modi is far from all the music of Jat stir, Jat reservation, Haryana Quota Protest and the destruction happening due to this. He is busy with his fancy travels, inaugurations and isolation. It seems as if he has nothing to do with all this. Jats are looting non-Jats in Rohtak. Jats are killing non-Jats in Haryana. Jats are at ransom spree. Jats are at destruction spree.

How can a country allow destructors so openly? If these guys are so mindless that they are ready to kill common men, play with the life of women and children by stopping water supply, then they have no right to survive in this country. If defence forces of India, police and army, can’t control a group of goons in Rohtak who are of mass destruction then it is the government who is to be blamed. Why can’t India be so advanced that the state government is suspended or terminated on such issues when they show their incapability in handling such situations and let them reach to such drastic extent? What benefits Modi’s government is getting to let it spread, to let people die, to let water supply stop? Surprisingly the Modi of pre-elections is not visible these days. It seems he has nothing to do with all this. It seems Modi’s ears are not able to or doesn’t want to listen to the killing music of Jat stir, Jat reservation and Haryana Quota Protest.

This blog post is inspired by the blogging marathon hosted on IndiBlogger for the launch of the #Fantastico Zica from Tata Motors. You can  apply for a test drive of the hatchback Zica today.

This will definitely give a boost to Govt. of India’s top on the list projects like Skill India, Make In India and Digital India. This has brought a revolution in the smartphone market. A smartphone at such a low price is a miracle in my opinion. At such an affordable price, the penetration of smartphone will reach the remotest of the villages of India. This is a price that anyone can afford without a slightest of the pinch in the pocket. That is what Dr Joshi spoke about yesterday. He said if the technology is not there, it is sad for the country. If the technology is there but is not at an affordable price, it will lack popularity and penetration. And if the technology is there at the most affordable price then it will be widely accepted and welcomed open heartedly. A word of caution he said is if the price is low but the offering has no value in it, then it is dangerous. But in the case of Freedom251, it is a great value for money.

But at the same time, it has put the other smartphone players in the market into a tight situation. This is going to being a complete paradigm shift in the smartphone market. The challenge is too tough for other players to accept. Only those who has the knowledge to take advantage of disruptive technology will be able to accept this challenge.
