Climate Change and Natural Disasters #CauseAChatter #ClimateChange #GlobalWarming

If we still think all is well as far as CLIMATE CHANGE is concerned, then we are fooling ourselves. Look at the series of severe disasters across the globe. Then think twice to satisfy yourself that everything is okay and no initiative is required from each of the living soul in this planet. Let's go back a little, in 2021, mid, had seen disastrous Canadian heatwave in June end. Then, the forest fires in Oregon. Soon after, there were heavy floods in various parts of Europe, especially, Belgium, and Germany. After that, it was extremely heavy rainfall in Henan, China that caused heavy flooding there resulting in serious damages of human life and otherwise. Is this all normal? Of course, there used to be forest fires, floods, landslides, extreme rains, and droughts; but never to such an extent and not so widespread.

If damages are happening because of such disasters in those countries that are well developed and will advanced, like Europe, and northern parts of the globe, then it clearly indicates that despite those places having sufficient infrastructure to handle heavy rainfall, then it clearly means that these disasters are happening beyond their preparedness and expectations. We seriously need to learn from these indications of nature and step up to stop misusing and insulting nature and natural resources. It's really a shame on us humans. Of course, the flooding in Germany and Belgium in the first half of July, shook the whole world. These are clearly nature's damaging acts against our actions of damaging the planet beyond limits.

The flooding has happened even in those parts of the world, to its severest, where it was least expected. This is Mother Nature's anger. Though, there used to be disasters earlier too but CLIMATE CHANGE has made them worse and extremely damaging. Especially, since the beginning of 21st century we are facing dire consequences as a result of continuous exploitation of our planet's resources. NASA had declared 2020 as the hottest year ever. The more is the rise in temperature of our earth, the more severe consequences we have to face. If just a one-degree rise in temperature can result in upto 7% increase in the severity of rainfall, then what is going to happen if the average global land and ocean temperature rises above 1-degree.

Currently, earth's temperature is rising at a pace double than what it used to be a century ago. A recent research by Professor Hayley Fowler, School of Engineering, Newcastle University, the earth's poles temperature is rising at 2-3 times the rate of the equator. That is surely going to disturb the balance be weakening the jet stream of Europe because it lies over the middle of latitudes. This results in frequent storms over that part of the world. On one hand we are encountering floods and heavy rainfall due to CLIMATE CHANGE. On the other hand, it's intensifying heatwave in Canada and North America. A team of researchers told in the BBC news that such deadly heatwave was a kind of unimaginable incident in these places.

Even the scientists and researches taking place across the globe accept that such extreme incidents are becoming more common because of GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE resulting in world heating up at a faster pace. For the first time, village of Lytton in British Columbia recorded near to 50-degree that never went above 45 degree centigrade. Since the temperature is soaring, it's resulting in severe forest fires like the one in Oregon, Washington recently, or that happened in the west coast of the United States.

Great Business Values from Woodwind Brasswind @WWBWDotCom

If you are in need of the best wwbw Yamaha trombone, don't look around anywhere else. The Woodwind & Brasswind started way back three decades down the line. Their journey started in South Bend, Indiana where a barbershop was converted with for the purpose and hand-typed flyer was used as the first catalog to introduce the company to the people around. This happened almost 30 years back and then there is no way back for the company. Soon Woodwind & Brasswind grew into a premiere catalog and internet retailer company with a global level recognition. They started serving musicians of almost all categories like flutists, tuba players, violinists, and percussion artists. The best WWBW Yamaha Trombone are used worldwide and probably is the first choice of musicians anywhere in the world.

The journey began just a few years back started getting momentum at a tremendous pace. In 1978 the Woodwind adopted the centuries-old concept of mail order as an opportunity to cater to their customers. The concept was applied for all kind of musical instrument accessories. This changed the business dynamics completely. The musical instrument accessories that were available only in mainstream metropolitan cities were now available to every corner of America. The original four-page and hand-typed flyer was still in use and was sent to around 400 music teachers in the Midwest. The response was phenomenal and during 1978 to 1982 The Woodwind became an essential phenomenon for any kind of musicians in America. During the early 1980s, after receiving phenomenal success, the Woodwind expanded their product range into brass products and changed their identity to The Woodwind & The Brasswind. The journey of the best WWBW Yamaha Trombone took many turns throughout.

Within few years the company expanded into guitars, drums, and audio equipment to serve musicians with any kind of requirement. By the late 1980s, the 800 square-foot barbershop became congested and could not manage the requirements of the growing business needs. A new showroom, a dedicated call center, a retail floor, and a warehouse were the immediate needs identified. The original four-page hand-typed flyer changed its shape to multiple catalogs, designed category wise. But a master catalog listing all products was kept intact. During the 1990s the mail-order business grew exponentially so much so that the call center had to be expanded from 12-seat setup to 75-seat setup. The first website was launched but the catalog stayed in practice and is credited to be the key player of the overall success.

The existing store was packed up on April 1, 1999, and moved to 4004 Technology Drive in South Bend, Indiana. The setup was much larger to accommodate call center and office staff together and very soon it became as the region's largest music superstore. The tilted clef logo that is in use came into existence. The Woodwind & The Brasswind name was simplified to The Woodwind & Brasswind. Many innovative and revolutionary steps were taken during the 2000s. The company grew to more than 100 employees, tied up with DonorsChoose.org, started restoring music education in public schools across and the United States are few to mention. More than $1.5 million has been donated to provide musical equipment programs in need. Growing and budding musicians in need are well supported.

The Woodwind & Brasswind is also an official sponsor of Drum Corps International (DCI). This official tour is known as “Marching Music's Major League”. DCI organizes such competitions in more than 100 events in North America. The South Bend location based on “brick and mortar” model was closed down in 2011 as the emphasis grew more in online and catalog division. The company caters to all 50 states and around 100 countries worldwide. The current call center has moved to Indianapolis and the warehouse is now in Kansas City, Missouri.

A great learning comes from this real life story of the business world. The organizations that evolve, don't run away from their roots, stay abreast with competition, change with the time, never lose their values, and keep the customer on the top never fail. The company never compromised and ensured each staff to carry deep product knowledge. The company decided to do away with the store concept and go 100% in online business was a good step. Serving the community is a key agenda of the business and that is why the company is dedicated to school music programs, catering to the basic needs of professionals, serving amateur budding musicians across the globe are few of the great initiatives adopted along the way to their growth and time.

Great Business Values from Woodwind Brasswind @WWBWDotCom

Let me throw some light on the Best WWBW Yamaha Trombone. But first, we need to understand the instrument Trombone. Trombone was a very popular musical instrument during the 18th century. During Baroque period it was known as Sackbut and its entity and identity has remained intact in the past 100 years. Tenor Trombone is the most popular variant of Trombone family. It is because of the approximation to the tenor range of the human voice. Practically if you see, the trombone being a wind instrument, closely matches the range of human voice. That is one of the prominent reasons why Tenor Trombone is the key constituent of all kind of performances ranging from solo to trombone ensembles to quartets and concert bands/ wind ensembles.

Orlando Shooting Guides Amy Schumer to Cut Gun Scene from her Movie

June 12 was a black day for Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, the United States where more than fifty persons died in a mass shooting attack by a terrorist. The gunman was killed later by Orlando police after a 3-hour fight. Around 60 persons were injured during Orlando shooting. It has been reported as the most heinous attack by a single shooter and the deadliest incident of violence against LGTB community in United States history. It has also been reported as the severest terrorist attack in the United States post 9/11 attack in 2001.

Omar Mateen, 29, an American, born to Afghan parents is identified as the assailant. He was a regular visitor of the nightclub and is supposedly having links with ISIL (the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) though CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) has not been able to find any links between Mateen and ISIL.

Amy Schumer, actress, and comedian has taken a lesson from this mass shooting incident and has revisited her already created latest film that is yet to be released. Schumer's new comedy project that is yet to be titled is based on a mother-and-daughter kidnapping in which she will be seen alongside Goldie Hawn of The First Wives Club fame.

Schumer, deeply shocked by the tragic shooting in Orlando in a homophobic mass attack has decided to cut a scene from the movie that involves gun firing at others by a person. The age-old debate is always there whether movies inspire criminals or real-life crime stories inspire movies. Though the details of the scene that is cut are not very much clear but definitely it is in line with the expectation by the whole world to curb violence and killing of innocent people all across the globe. Terrorism has been increasing like an unstoppable virus that needs to be curbed at the earliest.

Nina Selbst Author Interview: Faced Injustice of Sorting Human Beings

Nina Selbst was born in 1928, in Cape Town

Nina Selbst's parents were the children of penniless immigrants

Nina Selbst began to be troubled as she reached adolescence

Nina Selbst was born in 1928, in Cape Town, in the shadow of Table Mountain, recently selected as one of the wonders of the world. In fact, she became Nina Selbst from Nina Herbstein after she got married. Her parents were the children of penniless, immigrants who had escaped the cruel antisemitism of Eastern Europe and, in only a couple of decades of hard work, managed to establish themselves in the community and open up to their children avenues of personal and professional advancement. She grew up, with three brothers, in the seaside village of Muizenberg in a comfortable, secure, middle class environment. Discrimination against non-whites was part of the accepted order of society but it was very much milder than the virulent, ideological form it took in the later years of Apartheid. It seemed quite natural until she reached adolescence and began to be troubled by the injustice of sorting human beings into a rigid hierarchy by the color of their skin.

 Welcome! Nina Selbst

Your Real Name
I was born Nina Herbstein but, though a feminist by inclination, on marriage took my husband's surname, so I am Nina Selbst
        Best Memories of Childhood:
Growing up in the wonderful village of Muizenberg, enjoying the most beautiful surroundings of the Cape Peninsula, swimming in the Indian Ocean, horse-riding along the beach with its endless white sands, scrambling up the Muizenberg mountain, canoeing on the Vlei – all in the company of great friends and almost free of adult supervision

Childhood Portrait
.
My Education:
After a brief few years at a co-educational school, I was moved to a girls' school, where I completed my high school education. I was a good student but found most of what was offered as 'education' excruciatingly boring. Real intellectual challenge came from a home in which everything (with the exception of sex and death) was discussed in front of the children and with their active participation, and from my peers in the far left Zionist Socialist Youth movement that I joined at fifteen
Nina Selbst Author Interview: Faced Injustice of Sorting Human Beings

.
What career did you plan?
For a number of years I wanted to be a chemist and nothing else. Fortunately for me I realized, after only a year of academic study in the field, that this was not for me and I turned to the social sciences.
What languages can you speak and write?
English is my mother tongue but I also speak, read and write Hebrew freely...I was once reasonably fluent in Afrikaans, the other language of white South Africans, but regrettably my competence has faded over years of disuse. Even more regrettably, the languages of Black South Africans were a closed book to me .I enjoyed learning Spanish, which I found useful as a tourist, but was always better at speaking carefully prepared sentences than at understanding replies delivered at express train speed

.
What is your biggest source of inspiration in life?
That's a hard question. I suppose that at this stage of life it is watching my eight granddaughters grow into such fine human beings, each in her own way.
What hurts you most in this world?
In a most general sense, the unnecessary suffering that human beings inflict on one another. More specifically, the failure of the two peoples who occupy the narrow strip of land that I call home, to find a way to live, together or apart, in peace and mutual respect

.
If you had to live a day in your life as a living or dead personality, who would it be and why?.
Moses, on the last day of his life. I would devote that day to writing my autobiography so that future generations could have an authentic account of what really happened in those distant days, straight from a participant and eye witness. On second thoughts though, perhaps Moses is not a valid choice, being in all probability neither living nor dead, but a creature of the fertile human imagination.
What is your favorite genre?
History, both fiction and non-fiction but most particularly the seamless combination of the two, wonderfully represented by Hilary Mantel's Wolf Hall, for instance. It is a genre that provides a wealth of insights into the enduring sources of human motivation.
When did you start writing? What is the purpose of your writing?
My earliest writing was not from choice. From the moment that I learned to put pencil to paper, I was expected to write – happy birthday greetings and get well wishes to my grandparents, thank you notes for birthday presents received and so on. My early efforts were rather stilted and standardized, but the habit became firmly established. From the time I left home I wrote to my parents every single week and kept them abreast of all, (well perhaps not quite all!), that was happening in my life
Which of your work has been published so far? Would you like to share a synopsis of your work?
Disregarding a miscellaneous collection of articles, reports and professional papers, short stories and accounts of family history intended for a limited circle, my one published work is "Writ in Water" (November 2015)
The. book is a wide-ranging account of the diverse ways in which water is intertwined with the story of humanity. It opens with creation myths, those narratives never lacking a role for water, invented to explain how our world began. It closes with a listing of place names the world over, all with references to watery features of the landscape. In between it offers accounts of clean drinking water and foul, of irrigation – ancient and modern, of cleanliness and godliness, of exploration of the unknown along great rivers, of water wheels and hydroelectricity, of art and poetry and a good deal more.
The researching and writing of this book has been a fascinating journey of discovery for me. I can only hope that it will provide both pleasure and enlightenment to anyone who undertakes to read it.

Forthcoming writing, future plans
Perhaps I will manage a little story book for my two great grandsons, but at the age of eighty seven, plans for the future really belong in the same realm as green bananas.
What is generally your preference in reading – a paper book or ebook? And why?
I love the look and feel of printed books but cannot resist the enchantment of having a book at my disposal seconds after deciding to read it, with the additional bonus that it makes no demands for space on my crowded bookshelves. I feel no obligation to choose between them.
Your dream destination on earth
The top of Mount McKinley. When I was sixty I promise myself that I was going to climb the highest mountain in America at the age of ninety. As the date approaches I must acknowledge that it is going to remain a dream destination.
Countries you have visited
I have at least set foot on four of the five continents. Never made it to Australia.
Last book you finished reading?
Sapiens, a Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari
Current book you are reading?
The Little Prince Returns by Yoram Selbst.
Just published in Hebrew. Not yet available in English
Your favorite movie?
The African Queen. A funny and moving story of two people discovering love in a very surprising setting. Perfect performances by two great actors – Katherine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart.
Favorite celebrity?
I have no taste for celebrities.
What comes to your mind when you think of India?
Bhagvad-Gita, Mahatma Ghandi, curry, colonialism, sacred cows, funeral pyres and widows' homes on the banks of mother Ganga, grinding poverty and enormous potential

.
First thing you do in the morning after waking up?
Let the dog out.
The last thing to do before sleep
Read until the book falls from my hand.
The last line of your autobiography would be..
Past Imperfect – that sums up this story.
The title of your autobiography would be…
Truth to tell…

Colleen Nye Do It With The Fierceness Only You Can Understand

Colleen Nye hopes her readers enjoy her worlds and characters

Colleen Nye started writing as a child and settled on fiction writing

Colleen Nye Do It With The Fierceness Only You Can Understand

Colleen Nye started writing as a child and has ventured in content writing, press releases, poetry and more. Having settled on fiction writing, she is now a published novelist with several books out in various genres. With much more coming, she hopes that you enjoy her worlds and her characters.

Your name?
Colleen Nye

Please share some of the best memories of your childhood
Sitting in my attic playroom on one of the houses we lived in, listening to records and reading books.

What career did you plan during your education days?
I have always wanted to be a writer, but I was leaning towards being a journalist. I would still LOVE to find my way into having my own column. I also wanted to be an archeologist.

What is your biggest source of inspiration in life?
Everything and everyone. I see stories and scenes all around me. However, dreams are a huge influence.

What hurts you most in this world?
I'm different - weird. People see it pretty quickly in me. And while I don't mind it, it truly has had a serious effect on my relations with people Most people want normal. Many say I'm intimidating with how independent and "strong" I am. And while I've embraced it, it can be frustrating sometimes. However, I felt hat it's helped me in my writing.

Colleen Nye Do It With The Fierceness Only You Can Understand

What is the biggest challenge you have faced? How did you overcome it?
Time and money. Finding time and money to do everything I want to do. How did I overcome it? I'm still working on that.

What is your favorite genre and why?
To read? Personally, I love dystopian suspense.

When did you start writing? What is the purpose of your writing?
I started writing as a kid. Poems, short stories, articles. I went into content writing, press releases and more. I shifted into fiction in 2009 and have stuck with it. I have always had a vast imagination, and I enjoy letting others read my stories.

Which of your work has been published so far? Would you like to share a synopsis of your work?
I have a few books out. You can go to my website, www.colleennye.com to see each fo them.

What are your forthcoming writings?
My upcoming novel, The Long Summer, will release this Spring. It is a coming of age drama. I'm releasing several anthologies that I have parts in through the year. And later this year, I'm releasing book one of my upcoming sci-fi trilogy.
Colleen Nye Do It With The Fierceness Only You Can Understand

What genres you write in and why?
I write in several genres - romantic comedy, crime drama, sci-fi, dystopian...

What keeps you motivating towards writing?
I have all fo these worlds and characters floating around in my head, and I want to get them down on the page.

If Writing a Book is taken as a project, What are the key essentials you take care of in Project Management?
Details are huge. I make note of details like the names, appearance of characters, cities and places mentioned, relationships, etc. I also take a lot of notes of major happenings along with things I want to cover or go back and embellish on.

How do you plan, schedule and monitor your writing commitments?
I am not a planner - or plotter as we're dubbed in our field. I am what we refer to as a panster. I write, take notes as I go and see it like a movie in my mind.

Colleen Nye Do It With The Fierceness Only You Can Understand

What are your future plans?
Write, write, write.

What is generally your preference in reading – a paper book or ebook? And why?
I prefer to hold a physical book in my hands. I guess I'm a traditionalist like that. I just like the feel of it.

How much real life goes into fiction writing?
I think there's always a little bit of real life that goes into fiction writing. Whether it be a place the author is familiar with, a person they have a crush on or themselves or even a situation they have gone through or want to. All of those things are food for the imagination to take and run with. They make for a great platform to start on and make it into something great.

Is a high level of imagination important to have for an Author?
Yes. Especially fiction. It is vital.

Your dream destination on Earth?
The UK. I will actually be a guest presenter and signer at ChapterCon in London summer 2017, and I get so excited every time I think about it. I've always dreamed of going there and Ireland. So, while I'm in London, I intend on extending my stay a bit and traveling a bit around England and hoping over to Ireland as well if at all possible.

Your origin of birth and other countries you have visited/ stayed. What best things you liked in these countries around the globe?
I am an American. I've been to Canada a number of times. They're pretty cool over there :) But what do I love about Americans? I get very frustrated and do not feel like I fit in, but I admire the US passion and eagerness to advance and do. We are so busy and, as a whole, behave like teenagers without parental supervision. And while, overall, that's annoying, if we handle ourselves right, we will grow up into a pretty epic nation one day. However, if we don't do it right, we will fall. So time will tell.

Colleen Nye Do It With The Fierceness Only You Can Understand

Favorite time of the day?
For me personally? 3am. It's quiet, and most of the area are asleep. The night is beautiful and I get a lot of me time accomplished. However, for my writing, I love first thing in the morning. I guess all parts of the day are beautiful in their own way, and I get the most writing done when I first wake up.

Your zodiac/ sun sign?
LOL, I am an Aries.

Your favorite color and why?
Rich, royal blue. Why? I don't know. It's gorgeous and regal.

What is the last book you finished reading? What is the current book you
are reading?
I just finished The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. I'm currently reading Poldark by Winston Graham.

Your favorite book and why?
Greag Bear's Blood Music. It's a sci-fi (no vampires included lol), and it changed my outlook on the world when I was a teenager. You have to read it to see why.

Your favorite movie and why?
Labyrinth - David Bowie was a genius, yes, but I love the characters, the interesting world that was developed, the hard work of the cast and crew and the impossible love story. It truly provides a realistic representation of how often someone will do something for someone because they love them, and that person won't appreciate it and the strife and hurdles that ensue because of it, inevitably ending in longing and broken hearts.

Your favorite celebrity and why?
Aidan Turner. He has a presence I've not seen often. He has a range that's rare. And he seems to have a passion for his craft that I admire. What I wouldn't give to have him play one of my characters in screen or just to sit and pick his brain one day.

What comes to your mind when you think of India?
Beauty and passionate people that are very different from the typical American. A nation where it's people yearn for advancement and knowledge, yet they grip tightly to tradition and familiarity.

Christine Nolfi Award Winning and Bestselling Liberty Series

Christine Nolfi has been spinning dreams since childhood

Christine Nolfi’s debut novel Treasure Me enjoys bestseller status

Christine Nolfi Award Winning and Bestselling Liberty Series

Christine Nolfi has been spinning dreams since childhood. Christine Nolfi is known for the award-winning (and bestselling) Liberty Series about the eccentric and heartwarming people in a small town. Recently she's gone from independent novelist to hybrid with a two-book deal with Amazon Publishing. Her new series will debut February 2017. Her debut Treasure Me is among the “highly recommended” novels by The Midwest Book Review. In fact, it is not only a Next Generation Indie Awards finalist but also enjoys bestseller status. Christine can be found active on Twitter and her website. Join her mailing list here.

Welcome, Christine Nolfi.

Your real and pen name? Christine Nolfi

Christine Nolfi Award Winning and Bestselling Liberty Series
Nolfi's Kids
Some of your best memories of childhood?
Often what we perceive as life’s greatest burdens become the greatest strengths. I was born with a handicap (corrected later by surgery) that made running difficult. I learned to climb trees and sit in the branches weaving stories to the music of birdsong. Other children on the street were enchanted by the storytelling spell—I had them convinced I could fly, and those elves left treasure hidden throughout the neighborhood we must only search to find.

What languages do you speak and write?
I’m embarrassed to admit I’m only proficient in my native tongue, English. I would like to pick up several other languages beginning with French.

What career did you plan during your education days?
Writing stories has always been a draw. After college, I worked as a freelance writer then opened a small PR firm. After adopting my four children from the Philippines, I began writing novels in earnest. My children are now busy twenty-somethings, and I write full time.

What is the biggest source of inspiration in life?
People. The ability of the human heart to grow, and give unconditionally. The beauty of distinct cultures, and the rich history of the world’s stories.

Christine Nolfi Award Winning and Bestselling Liberty Series
Nolfi's writing companion - Lucy

What hurts you most in this world?
Hatred, bigotry, xenophobia—the banes of humanity, which inhibit the evolution of the world soul. At the moment, I’m also embarrassed for all the citizens of my country. As we move toward the next U.S. presidential election, the rhetoric coming out of the Republican campaign is disgusting. I hope the rest of the world understands that the men clawing for the prize do not speak for the average American.

What is your favorite genre and why?
I write women’s fiction, metaphysical and closer-to-literary. I’m drawn to stories based in reality woven with a suggestion of the remarkable. Book after book, I strive to provide readers with a rich emotional experience. Less obvious—although certainly as important—is the cultural blend of characters featured in my novels. Black, white, Asian, Hispanic—my stories depict the true world in which we live.

Sample Works:

Christine Nolfi Award Winning and Bestselling Liberty Series

Second Chance Grill, book one of the Liberty Series:
Dr. Mary Chance needs a sabbatical from medicine to grieve the loss of her closest friend. But when she inherits a struggling restaurant in Liberty, Ohio she isn’t prepared for Blossom Perini. Mary can’t resist falling for the amusing preteen—or the girl’s father. The bond they forge will transform all their lives and set in motion an outpouring of love that spreads across America.

Heavenscribe Part One:
Zobie Marsh hides the fearsome talent of prophecy. Young, poor and grieving the loss of her beloved Black Gram, she leaves home suddenly to avoid the advances of her mother’s latest boyfriend. Her decision to travel to South Carolina sets in motion Heavenscribe, a spiritual transformation devised by angels to aid a dying world.

Christine Nolfi Award Winning and Bestselling Liberty Series

Third Series
The debut will appear under the Lake Union imprint February 2017.

What are your future plans?
I’ll continue writing installments in both the Liberty and Heavenscribe series while developing the new series for the Women’s Fiction imprint at Amazon, Lake Union. Details of the deal will appear in an April issue of Publishers Weekly.

What motivates you to write?
The extraordinary moments in seemingly ordinary lives.

Is a high level of imagination important for a writer?
Tough question. The ability to walk out of your skin and immerse your imagination in the life of another certainly helps. Equally important? The ability to persevere, and to judge early drafts with love. The part of one’s soul where imagination resides is very much like a child. Treat yourself and your work tenderly. Doing so greatly improves the odds of success.

Your dream destination on earth?
A month in India. Another month in Italy. Wait. May I also have a month to tour South America? Afterward, I’d love to visit Africa, the Middle East, China, Australia…

Your zodiac / Sun sign?
I was born with an Aquarian sun and Virgo ascendant. At this phase in my life, I’m more Aries, Gemini, and Sagittarius with a psychic Scorpio underpinning. According to my astrologer, I’ve entered the “destiny phase” of my life, which will include much publishing, public speaking and transfer of my work to film. I hope she’s correct!

What comes to mind when you think of India?
Spirituality; one of the cradles of civilization. I’ve always been drawn to metaphysical subjects, as well as history.

What is the force that drives you?
Love, and the desire to illuminate.

I’ve led a very fortunate life—especially in terms of taking instinctive leaps, including the one that led me to adopt a sibling group from a developing country. My children were abandoned in the jungle; it’s a miracle they were found by missionaries before they perished. Healing four malnourished, seriously ill children was a game changer in terms of who I became after the experience.

I should also mention that spending four days in an impoverished part of the Philippines was also a catalyst, which continues to embroider my books. On those dusty streets, I met more people with a true sense of joy than I’ve ever known in the materialistic United States. If each of the world’s “haves” could spend a day with the “have-nots” I suspect we’d birth enough compassion to create paradise on earth.

What three words come to mind for each?
Technology: equality, tumult, connection
Life: sharing, learning, nurturing
God: light, love, truth
Humanity: one, whole, heart
Terrorism: tears, adolescence, change
Racism: shadow, fear, heartbreak
Childhood Abuse: currents, circles, ignorance
Love: growth, seed, eternity
Parenting: gift, love, lighting the path
Old age: power, becoming, giving

What is the last thing you do before going to sleep?
I can’t disengage from the Day World without reciting the ancient Indian mantra, So Hum. This is a nightly ritual, which clears the chattering monkey from my head and allows connection to the higher conscious available in the Sleep World.
