Depression To Mindfulness #BlogchatterA2Z #CauseAChatter #MentalHealth

Depression is an integral part of every life on this earth. We all get depressed sometime or the other. Mostly those are circumstantial depressions, that's why it's easier for us to come out of that. Many times we never know that momentarily we went into depression and came out of it. Depression has a deep connection with negativity. It has to do a lot with our state of physical & mental health, our surroundings, environment, age, behaviour, lifestyle, hobbies, family, relationships, personality type, and state of mind. There have been ample known cases of people coming back to normal healthy lifestyle from severe depression state. And vice versa. Depression becomes a concern of grave seriousness when it becomes a mental health issue. Depression as a disorder takes one's mind and heart in sync to a high level of belief that he is she is depressed.

Depression is a classified disorder on medical terms as a mood disorder. Actually, it's beyond that. Depression as a disorder is bundled with feelings of sadness, loneliness, losses, fear, stress, tension, anger, and all other kinds of negativities. When these feelings become permanent or prominent in one's life, he or she is definitely suffering from depression disorder. The worst part is its acceptance by the person who is suffering from depression who then completely loses urge, desire, hope, and energy to come out of it. That is the stage when one starts getting much deeper into it. I sometimes wonder whether it's the sadness that causes depression or it's the other way round? Depression impacts in various ways like health, relationship, productivity, profession, etc. Depression can lead to major tangible and intangible failures in one's life. Some facts about avoiding depression are:
  1. Stay active. Keep yourself busy in some productive activities.
  2. Exercise daily that include physical (jogging, cycling, swimming) as well as mental (yoga, meditation, music, Books).
  3. Keep your key hobbies alive especially as you grow old. If old ones are lost, or you have lost interest in those, develop new. For instance, start gardening if you have lost interest in reading books.
  4. Talk to others including family members, neighbours, friends, etc.

Now, let me talk a little about Mindfulness. Depression takes away one's liberty to think and work freely with energy and interest. Now, this is where your fight begins. If you are depressed or have one someone around, it becomes primarily very important to get one's mind free from the slavery of this feeling of depression. One has to be forcefully but gently pushed out of the clutches of depression. Meditation can help a lot in that. A genuine therapist can play a good role in that. The same can be done by close family members and friends too by giving some extra time to the person who is suffering from depression.

Basically, you need to give a kind of electrical shock to his or her thought process and belief mechanism to bring him if her to a level where he or she generates courage and energy from within to get himself or herself out of depression. You just need to attack loneliness with togetherness, sadness with happiness, and so on. There are people who can build a quick bond, talk from heart, create interest, and connect fast.

    1. Thanks. Yes, it's very important to stay away from loneliness unless one's mind, heart, and soul attain sync and then loneliness doesn't remain loneliness.
