Mindfulness #mentalhelth #causeachatter @blogchatter #Mindfulness

I am not sure if one can achieve a state of 100% Mindfulness. For me, to be in a position of maintaining a state of awareneness minute by minute when I have a full control of my feelings, thoughts, bodily sensations, feelings, and surrounding environment all the time is next to impossible. I think it takes a lot of practice, determination, and self discipline to achieve that.

They say there are 7 principles or attitudes of Mindfulness. First one is 'NON-JUDGING'. Most of the time I am judging my judging my own thoughts, deeds, and actions. Why? I don't know. Probably it's because of being partial to my actions and biased in witnessing my own experience. I have to learn how to become completely non judgemental for my own and for others.

Second principle is PATIENCE. Patience comes with wisdom and practice. Patience brings so many other benefits with it. Like, acceptance, harmony, happiness, and so on.

Third one is 'CHILD'S MIND'. A child is always open and receptive to anything new in life. It's perhaps curiosity that is always there in a child. As we grow, we stop being curious, receptive, and open. We tend to get more stereotypical and close minded.

Fourth principle of Mindfulness is TRUST. We start losing confidence in ourselves because we stop trusting ourselves. Mindfulness demands a consistent development of basic trust with self and own's feelings. Trust brings hope, stability, strength, and clarity in life.

Fifth one is 'NON STRIVING'. Live the moment. Don't waste energy in change. Focus on what is evolving. Stay with yourself.

Next is 'ACCEPTANCE'. Accept what's happening in life. This broadens your horizon. Look at life with a wide angle.

The seventh and last principle of Mindfulness is 'LETTING GO'. Pay full attention to inner experience. Let go unnecessary thoughts, feelings, and situations. Stick to your present moment. Let the sorrows of past and worries of future go away. Stay calm. Stay fresh.

Mindfulness is developing ability to be fully present in the current moment with full awareness of where I am and what I am doing without getting influenced by surrounding situations. It is about bringing awareness to what I am directly experiencing by means of my senses. My state of mind must sync well with my thoughts and emotions. That's how I can become mindful. It requires regular training to the brain to be mindful. The ultimate goal of Mindfulness is to reach to a state of mind where there is a complete awareness of mental, emotional, and physical conditions.

Childhood Discrimination #childhood #discrimination #CauseAChatter

Childhood and discrimination had started to form an unbreakable relationship as soon as I was born. Everything that is taught to us in our childhood, it is not necessary that it should be right and just. Actually, right and wrong is also a debatable issue. We always believe that if one is right then the other must be wrong. Between husband and wife, siblings, friends, neighbors, nations, the same thing has happened and keeps happening. If my point of view tells me one thing is correct, then it is not necessary that others should also look at that thing from the same point of view. He may have a different aspect of his own. Just like this, the basis of my childhood discrimination began as early as I started understanding the things around, or may be much before that.

This is what it looks like, this is what it doesn't looks like, form a kind of base to start judging people and things. An immature mind always gets biased because of other's biases. For instance, you only have to be friends with boys because you are a boy. Stay away from boys with weaker mind than you in the class, otherwise you will become weak in studies. Don't talk to that boy at all, he doesn't know anything. Every elder in the family has to be given full respect and everyone has to live up to their expectations. Does it lead always to right path? Doesn't it spoil young minds. Many times, it came to my mind that if the mind had not come under all these assumptions and temptations of others since childhood and had learned in a natural way without any pressure, then perhaps I would have become the owner of a much stronger personality later on.

This process goes on continuously in every family. From one generation to the second, second to third, third to fourth, and so on. We realize, but we never stop. There is no end to it. After growing up, I definitely remember these things. Had I not been taught this wrong thing? If only I had been shown its true form.? If that were the case? If that was not the case? But even after realizing all this, do we become right? Do we ever put a full stop to child discrimination? Do we ever seriously think about it and take our first step towards unbiasing the biased minds?

Mental Health #CauseAChatter #pebbleinwaterswrites #mentalhealth

Mental health simply means - a person's state in relation to their psychological and emotional well-being. Good.  Balance of mental and physical health is very important. Excess of one will not compensate for the other.  It is important to have both and to have sufficiently.  Be it sports or business, you have to make your mental health as well as physical health more strong as you move up the stairs of progress. This is the basis on which you can easily face the toughest of difficulties in life and profession.  Otherwise, people get frustrated in difficulties and give up at one stance or the other.  If you have a strong mental health then you can be the owner of strong determination power.  In that case, your morale will always be up. Certainly, You will not lay down arms even in the most difficult of circumstances.

A person with good mental health will face the difficulties and difficult situations with courage.  And will easily solve even the most difficult and complex problems.  The final moments,  of the game for the player when victory and defeat are about to be decided, for the doctor to operate a dying patient in the operation theater, those few hours for the student appearing for  high stake exam, for the pilot to control the aircraft in bad weather, or  a similar kind of mental struggle in such a critical situation, are the few examples of situations where one requires a very good mental health.  On the other hand, somewhere around us, we find a few people who are mentally unwell. There can be many reasons for this to happen in their life.  In such a situation, such a person should never be ridiculed.  This problem can happen to anyone at any time.

Such a person should be dealt with full sympathy.  His illness should be properly get assessed from an expert in the field.  And he should be treated under the supervision of a good doctor.  Just as all physical problems can be treated, similarly mental problems can also be solved properly.  We have made a lot of progress in technology and medicine today.  We have come a long way in this direction in the last few decades.  Admittedly, though the complexity of mental illnesses has increased, but at the same time, in proportion to those complexities, we have become very capable of solving those complications.

Today, a doctor sitting in one corner of the world can easily consult with doctors from other countries about his patients suffering from complex diseases in a matter of moments and can also perform complex operations with their help with the help of technology using a good bandwidth and video conferencing.

World Mental Health Day, Pandemic, and World #wmhday #mentalhelth @blogchatter @enablingworld

Every year, on 10th of October we observe World Mental Health Day. The purpose of it is to increase awareness and streamline efforts in support of mental health across the globe. We live in an unequal world in various aspects. According to World Health Organization (WHO) the ratio of people suffering from mental health issues is more than 1:10. This pandemic had made situations tougher for those suffering from mental health. Because of lack of physical contact (with other family members, friends, & colleagues), the new reality of working from home, and a sort of complete isolation in many cases has not only impacted seriously the existing cases but has developed new cases exponentially. There is a serious need of highly engaging interactive curative/counseling sessions with Wellness specialists, spiritual/mental health healers, emotional Intelligence/meditation/yoga experts. Facilitators, mediators, initiators, and specialists need to collaborate & synchronize their energies.

Depression To Mindfulness #BlogchatterA2Z #CauseAChatter #MentalHealth

Depression is an integral part of every life on this earth. We all get depressed sometime or the other. Mostly those are circumstantial depressions, that's why it's easier for us to come out of that. Many times we never know that momentarily we went into depression and came out of it. Depression has a deep connection with negativity. It has to do a lot with our state of physical & mental health, our surroundings, environment, age, behaviour, lifestyle, hobbies, family, relationships, personality type, and state of mind. There have been ample known cases of people coming back to normal healthy lifestyle from severe depression state. And vice versa. Depression becomes a concern of grave seriousness when it becomes a mental health issue. Depression as a disorder takes one's mind and heart in sync to a high level of belief that he is she is depressed.

Depression is a classified disorder on medical terms as a mood disorder. Actually, it's beyond that. Depression as a disorder is bundled with feelings of sadness, loneliness, losses, fear, stress, tension, anger, and all other kinds of negativities. When these feelings become permanent or prominent in one's life, he or she is definitely suffering from depression disorder. The worst part is its acceptance by the person who is suffering from depression who then completely loses urge, desire, hope, and energy to come out of it. That is the stage when one starts getting much deeper into it. I sometimes wonder whether it's the sadness that causes depression or it's the other way round? Depression impacts in various ways like health, relationship, productivity, profession, etc. Depression can lead to major tangible and intangible failures in one's life. Some facts about avoiding depression are:
  1. Stay active. Keep yourself busy in some productive activities.
  2. Exercise daily that include physical (jogging, cycling, swimming) as well as mental (yoga, meditation, music, Books).
  3. Keep your key hobbies alive especially as you grow old. If old ones are lost, or you have lost interest in those, develop new. For instance, start gardening if you have lost interest in reading books.
  4. Talk to others including family members, neighbours, friends, etc.

Now, let me talk a little about Mindfulness. Depression takes away one's liberty to think and work freely with energy and interest. Now, this is where your fight begins. If you are depressed or have one someone around, it becomes primarily very important to get one's mind free from the slavery of this feeling of depression. One has to be forcefully but gently pushed out of the clutches of depression. Meditation can help a lot in that. A genuine therapist can play a good role in that. The same can be done by close family members and friends too by giving some extra time to the person who is suffering from depression.

Basically, you need to give a kind of electrical shock to his or her thought process and belief mechanism to bring him if her to a level where he or she generates courage and energy from within to get himself or herself out of depression. You just need to attack loneliness with togetherness, sadness with happiness, and so on. There are people who can build a quick bond, talk from heart, create interest, and connect fast.
