When we talk of fashion in India or rather of the best schools to learn about every aspect of fashion for building a successful career, the first name that pops up in mind is Pearl. Pearl Academy has become a phenomenon now in the fashion industry. It has in fact become a legend in the field. Launched in 1993, initially known as Pearl Academy of Fashion and now as Pearl Academy, the institute has reached new heights in terms of achievements and fame. Actually in a very short leap the institute has evolved as one of the premium fashion and design institute with a well-known presence in the international arena.
With expansion of the institute and refinement in ideas, the courses have carved out in a very scientific & artistic manner under four different schools which are –
- School of Fashion, Styling & Textiles,
- School of Creative Business,
- School of Design, and,
- School of Communication, Media and Film
The horizons of Pearl Academy have expanded in proportion to the expectations and dreams of the youth of India after realizing that someone has to take the lead in fulfilling the aspirations of youth. It is a great example of self-belief, self-power and self-commitment that drives Pearl Academy in right direction and well in advance so as to take a proactive lead in the arena of providing an in-depth training to its students and building them strong to be able to go for a successful career.
The leader always remains a leader and the same has been proved by Pearl Academy. A well-crafted combination of education delivery model where an optimized combination of online and physical classroom sessions enables to provide students a platform for full engagement along with gaining learning in a most effective manner. This is perhaps the best example of resource optimization, on the other hand. The training model is well aware of changing trends in the industry and the current demand in the external world, based on which, it keeps changing its shape and methodology so as to maintain a rhythm and a right connect with the industry.
‘What’s Next’ is in fact a great initiative by Pearl Academy in the same direction by organizing regular convergences and workshops where protuberant thought leaders from different corners of the globe to present the real world expectations, requirements, and trends so as to take the existing fashion aspirant students in the right direction. Looking at the success and important of such events, the Academy plans to conduct them more frequently in collaboration with creative industry experts.
When we talk of ‘What’s Next’ there has to be ‘Who’s Next’ that comes to mind instantly. Yes, it is there. ‘Who’s Next’ is a beautiful and innovative concept of providing a full scholarship for any Graduate Honours Program Course (BA Hons.) along with an all-expense-paid trip to the U.S. to the top ten talented students. The selection is done by prominent industry and education experts belonging to fashion and design. To name a few are – Manish Malhotra, Rahul Mishra, Sussanne Khan, Prof Vikas Satwalekar, Mohan Neelakantan and many more.
It is the quality and content that has fascinated masters like Manish Malhotra to associate with Pearl Academy as Mentor for their School of Fashion, Styling and Textiles (SFST). As stated earlier a leader always remains a leader but only if it stays ahead of time and keeps changing its strategy and style in a most innovative and intuitive manner so as to cater to the needs of the real world in a proactive manner. That is what you can see in Pearl Academy where the new courses and curriculum keeps coming up to stay in sync with the industry trends and global demands. That is how the innovative courses like Interior Architecture and Design, Fashion Styling and Image Design, Fashion Media Make-up, Communication Design and so on were introduced from time to time. On the same track and with the same trend there are some new courses have been introduced recently. All this comes with extensive efforts of industry research, global surveys and team leadership from Pearl Academy. Some of the new courses are – Fashion & Lifestyle e-Commerce (FLE), Jewellery Design, Product Design, Global Luxury Brands Management and Indian Couture (IC). The PG courses in design mentioned above are a part of the launch during Portfolio 2015.
Portfolio 2015 is a part of the annual graduating event that is organized by Pearl Academy to felicitate their graduating students from various courses across four schools. The event also witnesses the display of final projects of these students in various forms like exhibition, fashion shows and presentations. The agenda of Portfolio 2015 includes a couple of fashion shows. Renowned fashion designer, Manish Malhotra will be the chief guest to award the winners and to launch the two new innovative post-graduate courses in Jewellery Design and Product Design. The alumni will have the privilege to discuss their aspirations with the chief guest. The event will also have a number of workshops on various subjects like Product Design, Jewellery Design, Styling, Fashion Media Make-up, Textiles, and Communication Media & Film and so on. An interesting panel discussion involving gurus from School of Creative Business is also on the cards.
Why I said Pearl Academy is a global phenomenon is because of its various collaborations with international institutes of repute. The past twenty-one years have seen a tremendous growth of Pearl Academy resulting into many innovative methodologies and course evolving from time to time. The adoption of Pedagogy from NTU, UK has helped Pearl Academy to give trained graduates exactly groomed as per the need of the industry. When globally acclaimed institutions like London College of Fashion, Domus Academy (Italy), Nottingham Trent University (NTU), NABA (Milan) and many more are backing Pearl Academy in terms of resources and expertise, there is nothing more left to say about the commitment, seriousness and quality of Pearl Academy. There are more than thirty unique courses in under-graduate, post-graduate and professional programmes. As of now Pearl Academy has four campuses, adorning the territorial expanse of Noida, Jaipur, Delhi, and Mumbai.
