ICC WC 2012 T20: NZ vs Pak: Target for NewZealand is 178

This is the 9th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2012 hosted in Sri Lanka. The match is being played in Pallekele.

In just 27 balls Nazir Jamshed has made his half century with the help of 4 solid sixes. James Franklin's swing ball broke the wicket of Mohammed Hafeez. Hafeez got out at 43 made in 38 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes.

Pakistan seem to be going strong with 124 runs for the loss of 2 wickets by the end of 13th over. Average so far is near to 9 runs an over and might go over 10 if 14th over onward Pakistan starts hitting the ball and scoring faster without much worrying about the wickets left as 8 more are yet to come.

Third wicket fell soon in the shape of Kamran Akmaal caught by Kayle Mills at point boundary leaving Pakistan at 128 for 3 when he got out at his individual score of only 3 runs on the bowling of Jacob Oram. Umar Akmal, brother of Kamran, came next for batting at number 5.

At the end of 15 overs Pakistan is 131 for the loss of 3 wickets. First to go was Imran Nazir at his score of 25 and the total on board was 47 in 6th over of the game. Second was Hafeez at his score of 43 when total was 123 in 14th over of the game And then soon after it was Kamran Akmal to go at 3 when total score was 129 in 15th over.

In a hurry Nasir Jamshed lost his wicket at his score of 56 made in 35 balls. Pakistan were 134 for 4 in 16th over. Jamshed's wicket was taken by Vettori when he got caught out by NL McCullum.

Next to come at number 6 was veteran Shoaib Malik. It is 4 overs left and both the new batsmen on crease need to deliver some magical shots to produce a challenging total for NewZealand. Two fours in a row on the bowling of Mills by Umar should have definitely boosted the confidence level of the batsman. 150 for Pakistan came in 18th over.

Last 2 over and it would be interesting to see how many runs Shoaib and Umar are able to fetch. A clever four by Umar on the 2nd ball of the over by Oram and a six on the 3rd ball of the over, back to back was good enough to spill the concentration of Jacob Oram. And the 4th ball went as a comfortable catch to NL McCullum saw Umar leaving the pitch after making 23 runs on 15 balls.

First ball to Shahid Afridi comfortably went for four after Afridi found a gap between the two players. 16 runs came in the 19th over along with the loss of Umar. Last over yet to go and Pakistan are 165 for 5. First ball by Southee is sent for four by Malik. and 1 run on the next ball brought Pakistan to 170 for 5. Third ball of the over - no run. Last 3 balls to go. Fourth ball was a yorker and 2 quick runs taken by Afridi. Last 2 balls to go now, only 7 runs taken so far. This was a wide ball giving one more run to Pakistan bringing them to 173 for 5.

Second last ball, taken on half volley and goes for four with one bounce. 12 runs in the last over so far, with last ball to go. And the last ball was taken comfortably as a catch bringing Pakistan to 177 for 6. Afridi was out on the last ball.
