Book Review: The Reluctant Scribbler: Tushar Mangl: Hold Me And Never Let Me Go

The Reluctant Scribbler by Tushar Mangl is a sincere effort by Tushar in expressing his inner feelings in writing and then with a good amount of courage sharing it with his readers and fans. There are two parts and 30 poems in this 43 pages book. The poems are simple and some are heart touchingly expressive.

In The Reluctant Scribbler, Tushar has expressed himself both in Hindi and English. Some part of the poetry is though using Hindi words but are written in English alphabets. If you go expression wise, Tushar has been able to express his feelings but not very strongly. There are certain mistakes or shortfalls that need to be taken care of in his next book. The editing part is almost missing. There are lot of editing errors that could have been overcome had a proper editing been done. Since this is a self published book, probably the publisher would not have provided any editor for the writing work done by the author. The editing part is important to remove spellings and spacing type of errors which is very important so as to avoid irritation at the part of reader while reading the book.

Secondly the poetry could have been divided in two parts on the basis of languages Tushar has chosen in the book The Reluctant Scribbler. One part could contain all the poetry written in one language say English and printed in English. Second part could have the other set of poetry written in Hindi but printed in Hindi only. Printing Hindi language in English creates lots of confusion and would be entirely difficult to understand for non Hindi readers.

Overall the poetry in The Reluctant Scribbler by Tushar Mangl is interesting. Some of them are very strongly able to convey the deep message that the author wanted to convey. That clearly tells that the diamond just needs a little more polishing so as to come to its real extent. Poems titled "Romance", "Pour Thy Pain" etc. are good ones, while there are some poems that are not too impressive and seem to lack a strong feeling or message to move across the boundaries between a writer and reader.
