ICC T20WC2012 SL: Australia Won Against WI: Watson Man of Match

It was neither Australia, West Indies or Empires who decided the winning team but the heavily down pouring rains. West Indies batted first and with the help of 2 half centuries from Chris Gayle and Samuels, were able to produce a tough target for Australia in the shape of 191 runs hence challenging them to produce 192 runs to win.

Shane Watson and David Warner started on this batsmen friendly pitch and clearly demonstrated their intentions by producing more than 15 runs an over in first 2 overs. Watson did not get derailed even when Warner got out in the 3rd over of the game after making 28 runs in just 14 balls. Gradually by the end of 9th over it was almost clear that Australia is going to win this match.

But probably weather wanted to take this call and rains started just after the first ball of 10th over was bowled.Watson was at 41 in just 24 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes and on the other hand Michael Hussey was batting at 28 made in 19 balls with 3 fours and 1 six.

Finally when there were no chances of heavily pouring rain to stop, Australia were declared winner of the match by 17 runs on the basis of D/L method. David Warner was rightly adjudged man of the match.
