Cooking to Save Your Life by Abhijit Banerjee #bookreview #tbrchallenge #pebbleinwaterswrites #books @blogchatter

Abhijit Banerjee brought a moment of pride to India and all Indians when he jointly received 2019 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. The other two recipients for the same were Esther Duflo and Michael Kemer. The trio had worked together towards innovating an experimental approach to alleviate global poverty. Abhijit Banerjee is a professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Esther Duflo is married to Abhijit and she also is an economist at MIT. Cooking to Save Your Life by Abhijit Banerjee is published by Juggernaut. This is one of the best cookbooks in many ways. The elaborative drawings in the book are by Cheyenne Olivier. So, after excelling as an economist and social scientist, Abhijit has proven his mettle as a writer and cooking expert through this fabulous book.

Explaining the purpose of this book Cooking to Save Your Life, Abhijit said he was exploring the social dimension of cooking thus proving that the book is not a simple cookbook but it's connected so beautifully to his work as an economist and social scientist. Every dish that Abhijit curated in this book is well suited for a particular event or occasion. The dishes are crafted well by a unique selection of ingredients and still keeping them simple to prepare. A few of those are Charred Avocados with Tahini and Pomegranate Molasses, Raspberry Ceviche, Ambur Biryani, and Masala Chips, tossed with Minced Onions, Green Chillies and Chaat Masala. Banana Bread with Almond Flour is one of Abhijit's favourite recipe. That's not all. There are a good number of more recipes in the book to learn, try at home, and cherish with the family and friends.

During this Pandemic, in last couple of years, staying mostly at home, and doing away with outings and restaurant visits, I have tried a good number of new dishes and mastered in a few. In fact, during this period, I got ample chances to alter a dish or try it in some other innovative way. So, that way, Cooking to Save Your Life by Abhijit Banerjee is a boon for me. If you are a foodie and love cooking at home, this book is definitely going to add a great value in your cravings for great dishes.
